The Masterworks are the premier works of art in the Kagle Fine Arts Collection. They are the works which outshine other works in their quality and value. Many times they are the works which exist after a rigorous pruning process, such as buying over 4000 Micronesian storyboards in villages and from artists' studios, trading and selling those to acquire others of greater value from the seven masters of Palau, until the collection is now just a few masterworks (the Masterworks are the "best of the best"). The same kind of process was used in selecting the premier works in the other collections.
